FAQ
What is your process? How do you make the paintings?
All of my art is intuitive and I use 3 wooden sticks in order to arrange the paint. When the paint is dry I use a calligraphy pen and drawing ink to create depth and unfold the story.
How long have you been an artist?
It's in my blood to create, I get moody & depressed if I don't make anything so I start with breakfast. Born with the creative urge and vision, always envisioning new creations and practising as a creator in a more professional way for 12 years.
What do you think of others doing your style?
I love when others find inspiration in what I do. It's a great mental health practice. We are all unique creators and its not possible to copy someone, as there is only one you. We all have a unique vision to share with the world.
Did you go to school?
Yes I studied for 4 years at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague, The Netherlands. My field was Photography, not fine arts, yet is was a great visual foundation that fuels my paintings and multi-media art until this date.
Who inspired/inspires you?
Nature and the cosmos. Love and life in general. The cosmic mind we tap into in meditation. I gain inspiration from consistently practicing gratitude for life and being in wonder about the creation of life.
How do you come up with prices?
The prices are determined by the size of the artwork. We do our best to create in an affordable way as for us it's super important the art goes to the people. Prices do increase with career expansion.
Where are you from?
I am half Dutch and half Romanian, born and raised in the Netherlands. Currently, I live in Lisbon, Portugal.
How did you discover your method?
It was a blue-grey day in December and I was in a bit of a dark night of the soul, restless and figuring out what to do next in my life. I had this random feeling to start painting, the last time I did that was in high school. I chose to listen, but when the paint was done I felt bored, the piece was done too fast and it didn't give me any satisfaction. That's when I decided to draw on my paintings. My style naturally evolved from that point onwards and it was clear in which direction I wished to take my life.
Is anyone else in your family creative?
My whole family is creative, although nobody practices art. My father used to be an amateur photographer and architect. My mother loves making and designing clothes and my brother is a total computer whizkid.
What social cause is close to your heart?
Mental health and activating people to fully and authentically express and create a life they enjoy fully heart-centered.. I am an advocate for people living their dreams and following their hearts. In my world, there is no other way than serve to the community and impact through authenticity.
What is your favorite color?
I love most colors and don't really have a favorite, although once in a while I vibe closely with a color. It normally doesn't take longer than a few weeks and I go back to loving all.
Do you have any advice or tips for emerging artists?
Don't overthink, don't look at others for your art, trust what comes from within, if nothing comes go live life first, make adventures and then start again, don't be afraid to make bad art. Keep on creating until it clicks.
How long does it take for the paint to dry?
Between 1 and 3 days.
How long does it take you to finish a painting?
Somewhere between 30 minutes to one month (sometimes one year) depending on the piece.
Do you sell your work? Where can I buy it?
Yes, I do sell my artwork, you can buy it in the shop at www.tamararobeer.com or send me an email and we arrange the artwork for you.
Do you listen to music when you paint?
It depends on the artwork. Whenever possible I work in silence to have the most pure creation, as the music does influence the creation. Sometimes when I am halfway into the process I listen to music that inspires this specific piece.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, I ship internationally from Portugal. Shipping times may fluctuate. Sometimes the shipping is super fast within one week and in the worst case, it can take up to four weeks, yet your work always arrives.
What is your favorite painting you made?
'Inner Galaxy' you find this one in the print section and 'Initiation'. Although I have lots of favorites, there really is not one trult favorite painting.
How do you find inspiration when you are uninspired?
Keep on making things and not be afraid to make bad art. Other than that I might go on a random adventure in the city or I use movement to get back into the flow.

There is an incredible amount of great art out there, yet I never look at other artists for inspiration. I am my favorite artist, as the core of being an artist is to love what you do and believe in your own art and message.
